Description

The Heights is currently a normal map in rotation, but it was an event map during the SFOTH Event. Like other event maps, it had a specialized wave structure with special enemies. Upon triumphing in the event version, players were rewarded with the Gladiator on Normal, Hard or Insane modes.

The Heights has the Enemies Beta modifier, which changes the appearance of some enemies, replaces some enemies with other enemies and changes stats of some enemies.

In the event version of this map, there were only 12 waves with some unique enemies appearing, including the Swordmaster. Players started with Cash (Gameplay Currency)$2,000 (or Cash (Gameplay Currency)$2,100 if the players were in the Paradoxum Games group). While you could choose the difficulty of the map, this had relatively little effect on gameplay, except that harder difficulties gave more money per wave (ironically making it easier) and increased how much Coin Coins and Experience EXP you got. The event used the same shared cash system as the main modes. Due to the rewards, wave bonuses and shared cash being the same as the main modes, they changed multiple times during the event.

As the SFOTH Event has ended, you get no special reward for triumphing this map.

Design & Path

The current version of The Heights is a battle arena-style map taking place above the clouds. There are many artificial pillars and walkways spanning over the map, with some walkways featuring obstacles. Multiple spawn points scattered across the map. Statues can be found in various spots around the map, all of which hold swords from Sword Fight on the Heights. Multiple portals can also be found on the map.
The path starts at a spawn point and ends at a portal, taking multiple turns around the pillars.

The second version of The Heights was a map that takes above the clouds. Several ruined towers could be seen towering above the clouds in this map. Some wooden bridges and planks could be seen around the map. Some swords and portals could also be seen around the map.
The cobblestone path begins at a green portal and ends at a yellow portal. The path was mostly a medieval bridge, with some wooden bridges occasionally taking the path.

The first version of The Heights (the same one used for the SFOTH Event) was a battle arena-style map taking place above the clouds. There were many artificial pillars, walkways spanning over the map and clouds that you could place ground towers on. There were also several battle paraphernalia, just like Sword Fight on the Heights.
The path started and ended at two portals with the path turning around the pillars and clouds.

Event Rewards

The game calculated how much Coin Coins and Experience EXP based on how many waves you survived.

The Heights' rewards were based on the difficulty selected at the beginning of the match. The equations for both Coin Coins and Experience EXP were the same as the ones used in regular matches. The equations can be found here.

Badges

There were also a few badges which you could obtain when playing this map, which may have additional rewards alongside the badge. These were:

Triumph The Heights
✖ UNOBTAINABLE
THBadge No description available
Obtained Gladiator
✖ UNOBTAINABLE
GladiatorEvent No description available

Event Wave Structure

Note that this only applies when the map was part of the SFOTH Event. The current wave structure is the same one found on the Waves page.

The Heights' wave bonus as based on the difficulty selected at the beginning of the match. The equations were the same as the ones used in regular matches. The equations can be found here.

The waves in The Heights also followed these timings:

Waves Wave Time Skip Time[1]
1-11 1:00 0:20[2]
1-12 1:00 N/A[3]

For more information, see WikiaColors's video.

Bolded names indicates an enemy type's debut.

Strategy

  • Space in general is at a premium on this map. There are relatively few ground spots on this map, most of them being away from the path.
    • Because of this, towers with larger placement footprints, like the Turret may not be that useful here.
    • However, there is a lot of cliff spots on this map. Due to their high range, they are also not as affected by placement spots being away from the path.
  • The Military Base can be quite useful on this map as its units can attack enemies from the opposite side of the map.
    • If you need to use the Farm and Military Base, make sure that these towers are on the pillar near the end of the map.
  • Short-ranged towers, like the Slasher or Shotgunner, should not be used on this map given the distance between ground spots and the path.
  • Due to the separation of cliff and ground towers, it may be hard to boost cliff towers with only one DJ Booth or Commander.

Trivia

  • The Heights was based on Shedletsky's Sword Fight on the Heights game, a well-known game on Roblox.
    • The current version of this map uses the same skybox as the Sword Fight on the Heights IV.
  • The Heights was the first event map to be added to the game. It was also the first event map to return as a regular map.
  • On the current version of the map, multiple statues can be found holding various Roblox sword. These swords are the Darkheart, Illumina, Firebrand, Venomshank, Ghostwalker, Ice Dagger and Windforce.
    • These statues are located in the same spots as the swords were in Shedletsky's Sword Fight on The Heights IV.
  • This map was updated in the Frost Invasion Update so that the map was more in line with the artistic style of the game.
    • After the update, many more easter eggs could be seen:
      • Multiple Roblox swords were scattered around the map, these swords are the Darkheart, Illumina, Firebrand, Venomshank, Ghostwalker and Windforce.
        • The Firebrand sword created a ring of fire near it on the path. However it did not deal any damage to enemies.
        • Weirdly, the Ice Dagger is not present on this map, despite every other sword that you could pick up being present.
      • Multiple statues could be seen around the map, either fighting or just standing. All statues wielded a sword, and some of them wore a dominus.
        • These statues are likely supposed to represent players fighting in the game that this map was based on, Sword Fight on the Heights.
  • Prior to the Overhaul Update, SFOTH music played on this map.
    • After The Heights was re-added as a regular map, the music was no longer looped.
    • However, the music was removed on the 29th of October 2020.
  • In the first version of The Heights, on one of the pillars near the start of the map, the words "The cake is a lie!" can be found.
    • "The cake is a lie!" is a reference to the game Portal, where the cake is a lie.
