Description

The Templar was a high health enemy which appears in the Sandbox mode exclusive Legacy Fallen mode. It wields a minigun which is used to fire at towers randomly, which stuns them for a short period of time. It has defense, meaning that most forms of damage against the Templar is decreased. It also has 2,000 Shield Health.

Appearance

The Templar appears to be a futuristic warrior, with shiny metal armor and a laser minigun which glows neon red. It wears black and light grey armor and has green skin. It also wears black gloves. It wears a helmet with horns, with its eyes covered with a red strobe of light. It is slightly larger than the average enemy.

The Templar has a death animation, where it will drop its laser minigun and slowly fall backwards.

Strategy

  • Like all other tanky enemies, high DPS towers like the Accelerator or Minigunner should be used to take the Templar down.
    • The Commander should be used to boost the firerate of these towers.
    • The Engineer is recommended, as its sentries will continue firing even when the Engineer is stunned by the Templar's Minigun ability.
    • The Ranger and Pursuit cannot be stunned by the Templar's Minigun ability.
    • The Military Base's units deal full collision damage to the Templar, regardless of its defense, making them quite useful.
      • Do note that their ranged damage is still decreased.
  • It is recommended to place your towers away from the path to avoid getting stunned by the Templar's Minigun ability.
  • It may be viable to have a cheap distraction tower, like a Level 0 Commander, to distract the Templar's Minigun from your main offensive towers.
  • When the Templar spawns, it will not use its Minigun ability for a few seconds. Use this period of time to defeat the Templar before it can stun any towers.
  • The Medic can be used to cleanse towers of the Templar's stun with its Revive ability.
    • Do note that this will be ineffective while the Templar is still firing its Minigun, as the towers will be continuously stunned until the ability is over.
  • The Gladiator's stun blocking is ineffective against the Templar, as the first stun will be blocked, but not any subsequent stuns from the Minigun's continuous stream of bullets.
  • Slowing towers like the Cryomancer, Electroshocker, Warden or Freezer can be used to slow down the Templar.
    • However, because of its large size, freezing towers and the Warden will slow it down for a shorter amount of time.
    • Additionally, stunning towers like the Electroshocker can only slow it down instead of stunning it because of its stun immunity.
    • Do note that the Templar will not stop using its Minigun ability when frozen or stunned.
  • Defense dropping towers like the Pyromancer, Jester or Freezer can help to reduce the Templar's defense.

Trivia

  • The Templar is likely named after the Knights Templar, a Catholic medieval chivalric order, most infamously known for the Crusades.
    • The Templar's original helmet is similar to the Great Helm, a helmet that was common in the Christendom of the Middle Ages.
  • The Templar was loosely based on the Clay Templar from Risk Of Rain 2.
  • The original Templar can be seen as a chess piece in the Chess Board map, parodying the Rook chess piece.
  • Prior to the Overhaul Update, the Templar was one of the few enemies to gain a Shield. This Shield reduced the damage dealt by most towers to 2.
  • The minigun it wields is a modified version of the Galactic Laser Gun gear from the Roblox catalog.
  • While in-game the enemy has light green skin, in promotional renders it has red skin and its arms were covered in grey armor instead of being exposed. This is likely a development oversight.
