Description

The Reaper was the third boss that appeared in the second act of the Lunar Overture Event, though only the first Reaper that spawned was considered a Boss. It was a tanky and slow enemy with multiple immunities, which made it immune to burn damage from towers like the Pyromancer and immune to being completely stopped by the Warden and Electroshocker, being only slowed down instead. While it was a boss enemy, it was also immune to being frozen by freezing towers and being slowed down by the Toxic Gunner. It also had 15% defense.

The Reaper had two abilities. The first ability, Sin Bringing, made it summon five enemies, some of which had their statistics altered through the Scale attribute. It could spawn the two variants of Sins, the smaller variant with above average speed and 400 health or the big variant with 800 health but below average speed, a smaller Demon with its health halved but increased speed or a Hallow Guard with a random amount of health, which is higher than 2,500 and lower than 3,000, slightly smaller size and slightly faster speed. The second ability, Soul Reap, made it swing its scythe at a tower, stunning it and any other tower near it.

Appearance

The Reaper was a large humanoid with a waist in its rig. It had a black skin tone, a dark grey ragged cloak with sleeves, pants and a hood with a dark red trim, light grey legs, and a dark red cape. It had a grey chain draped across its torso and had black spikes coming out of its shoulders. It wielded a white scythe with a skull on top, which had grey horns and a black blade on it.

The Reaper had a death animation, where it would drop its scythe and fall on its back, but would flash red and turn into ash in the process, with its body quickly disassembling and fading away. During its Sin Bringing ability, a red ritual circle appeared beneath it.

Strategy

  • High DPS towers, like the Accelerator, Minigunner or Pursuit are recommended against it.
    • High DPS towers with ability to hit multiple enemies at once, like the Pursuit or Ranger can hit multiple enemies that the Reaper spawns at once, making them more effective against it.
    • The Commander and DJ Booth can be useful at boosting their firerate and range respectively.
  • When it first spawns on Wave 18, it is a boss enemy, therefore it cannot be frozen by freezing towers, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner or completely stopped by the Warden and Electroshocker.
    • This also means that it is unaffected by the Witch's ability.
    • After Wave 18, the Reaper is no longer a boss, reducing its immunities to only being immune to the Warden's and Electroshocker's stun, only being slowed down by them.
  • The Reaper is immune to being set on fire by towers like the Pyromancer, making them less effective against it.
    • It also makes it immune from having its defense decreased by the Pyromancer and Golden Pyromancer but since its defense is quite low, this is not a huge issue.
