Description

The Necrotic Skeleton is an enemy that appears in Fallen mode, Challenge Trials and Badlands II. In Challenge Maps and The Takeover Event, it does not appear naturally, and is instead summoned by the Fallen King and Fallen Summoner. In all other modes, it does appear naturally, though in Badlands II, it is always a Hidden enemy. It has a decent amount of health and walks quite fast. The Necrotic Skeleton is also a support enemy, as it has two abilities which debuff towers and buff enemies, both upon death.

Its first ability is Gooey Demise, which causes it to apply a 60% Firerate Debuff (150% increase) to every tower in its 15 radius for 4 seconds. Its second ability is Essence of Life, which makes it leave four puddles of purple goo on the path. These puddles heal any enemy that walks over them by 2 every 0.05 seconds. They last 10 seconds.

Appearance

The Necrotic Skeleton is made entirely of sand colored parts that resemble a skeletal humanoid. It does not have a full torso, but instead has the bone cage for it. Its head is a skull with large neon blue eyes and horns. It wears a grey chestplate and shoulder-pads.

Upon death, the Necrotic Skeleton will fall over and create a trail of purple goo in front of it.

Strategy

  • The Necrotic Skeleton is a support enemy. Upon death, it will both debuff towers and buff enemies.
    • It will debuff towers by applying an 150% Firerate Debuff to them, though it is quite short.
    • Its puddles will heal any enemy that walks over it by 2 health every 0.05 seconds, regenerating their health.
      • As it is rather fast, it will get to the front of enemies quite quickly, allowing it to regenerate their health. Additionally, it will be swiftly killed by towers as its health is much lower than most enemies that appear around the same time as it.
  • High DPS towers, like the Minigunner, Turret and Accelerator can be quite effective against this, as it has quite low health.
    • High DPS towers with splash damage capabilities, such as the Ranger and Pursuit can be quite useful, as they can damage both the Necrotic Skeletons and the enemies that summoned them.
    • In Badlands II, it is recommended that these towers have hidden detection, due to the Necrotic Skeleton being a Hidden enemy there.
  • Area of effect towers, like the Mortar, Rocketeer and Electroshocker can be quite useful at killing the Necrotic Skeletons, as they spawn in hordes.
