Description

The Molten is a lava-themed enemy that appears in Legacy Molten and Molten modes. It has a decent amount of health and a high defense, though it has average speed, being slower than the Elite Abnormal. It also has Burn Immunity, meaning it cannot be set on fire.

It can be spawned from the Mystery upon its death, wave 21 onwards in Legacy Molten mode only. It could also be spawned by the Molten Boss, Molten mode only.

Appearance

The current version of the Molten has orange-red skin, which is meant to be magma, covered by black molten lava. It has multiple cracks in that molten lava, exposing its body. It has two animations that are randomly chosen.

The current version of the legacy Molten is similar to the third version, except it has a slash across its forehead, with drooping lines leaking from it. When the Molten walks, its head moves from side to side.

The third version of the Molten had glowing orange-red skin and a puddle of lava on its chest with fire emitting from its torso. Its torso and legs were black cobblestone. It also wore a metal armband on its left arm. A lava trail was left behind as it walks. It had a drooling zombie face.

The second version of the Molten had glowing orange-red skin and a puddle of lava on its chest with smoke being emitted from its torso. Its torso was a lighter shade of orange-red than its skin while its legs are orange. A lava trail is left behind as it walks. It has a drooling zombie face.

Strategy

  • Towers with decent DPS like the Minigunner, Golden Cowboy, Crook Boss or Accelerator can mod down large hordes of Moltens due to their high DPS.
  • Splash damage towers like the Pursuit, Mortar or Rocketeer can be useful here, as they most often spawn in hordes.
  • The Trapper can be quite useful at killing Moltens, due to its traps bypassing defense.
  • The Military Base's units can easily soak up several collisions with Moltens, due to their collision damage bypassing its defense.
  • Some stalling towers like the Electroshocker, Frost Blaster or Sledger can be used to kill the Moltens, slow them down and in some cases drop their defense.
  • While towers that deal fire damage like the Pyromancer or Trapper cannot burn the Molten, they can still deal non-burn damage to it.
    • They cannot, however, drop their defense, making their defense dropping useless against the Molten.
