Description

Lay By is an Insane map with a medium path length. It has a completely straight path, meaning that there are no turns here.

Lay By has the Enemies Beta modifier, which changes the appearance of some enemies, replaces some enemies with other enemies and changes stats of some enemies.

Design & Path

The current version of Lay By takes place on a floodplain area, surrounded by two large cliffs and a lake. The path itself is a straight highway, going from one road tunnel into another. Along the path are multiple road cones, barriers and blue, green and red shipping containers. There is also a black car, two police cars and an advertisement billboard along the side of the road. The road bridges over two canals, which are filled with trash bags and empty boxes. There are also various trees and rocks scattered across the map.

The first version of Lay By took place on a one-lane highway. Several parts of the highway have seen severe damage. Some parts of it were supported by wooden planks, though vines were overgrown on these parts. Along the highway were lampposts. The highway crossed three islands, all of which were forested and, at parts, were mountainous. Two rivers separated the three islands, which the highway passed over on concrete bridges. The rivers were connected at both ends by the sea which surrounded all three islands. On the first island was a wooden hut that could be seen as well as a sewage system, which indicated some human habitation. On the second island, only trees could be seen. On the third island, a destroyed vehicle could be seen as well as a large advertisement billboard. The highway path began and ended at two road tunnels on the islands.

Strategy

  • This map is somewhat short, so make sure to use your space wisely.
    • The Commander can help by decreasing a tower's firerate as the path is very short.
    • You can also use slowing towers to slow down enemies.
  • The Ranger can be used on this map, though be aware of the short path on this map and the Ranger's slow firerate.
  • The Military Base is less effective on this map since its units do not have a long period of time when it can attack enemies.
    • The Crook Boss's units are not as affected as they stop to attack enemies.
  • Towers that rely on corners to be more effective, like the Ace Pilot or Shotgunner, are not recommended on this map due to its lack of corners.
  • The Archer can be used in this map as the piercing can be effectively be used due to the straight path.
