Narrator dialogue on Wave 20 (The Haunted Past)

Description

Jack-o-Bot, internally referred to as Jackobot, was the fourth and final boss of the second act in the Lunar Overture Event. Being the final boss, it had a very high amount of health, much higher than all other bosses before it, though it walked at an extremely slow pace. As it was a boss enemy, it was immune to being slowed down by the Toxic Gunner, could not be frozen by freezing towers and could only be slowed down by the Warden and Electroshocker. It was also unable to be affected by the Witch's ability.

Jack-o-Bot had two abilities. Its first one was Hallow Hellraiser, where Jack-o-Bot would start firing its right arm machine gun in a sweeping fashion, stunning towers. The second ability was Jack-o-Bombs, in which Jack-o-Bot would fire between three to six explosive pumpkins at different towers. These pumpkins would explode upon impact, creating green smoke and stunning all towers hit by the explosion.

Appearance

Jack-o-Bot was a giant mechanical pumpkin robot with a pumpkin head (similar to Sinister P) and pumpkin shoulders, controlled by an unknown humanoid. On its hands it was armed with a minigun on the right and an explosive pumpkin launcher on the left. In its chest, there was a small cockpit which houses the humanoid controlling Jack-o-Bot, along with two control sticks. It had mechanical legs and treaded feet. The humanoid controlling Jack-o-Bot had yellow skin, a red torso and blue pants.

Strategy

  • High DPS towers like the Accelerator, Engineer and Golden Minigunner are very effective against Jack-o-Bot.
    • Towers that are immune to stuns, like the Pursuit, are also strong options.
      • Cliff towers like the Ranger are actually able to be stunned by Jack-o-Bot.
    • The DJ Booth and Commander can be also helpful at boosting your towers' range and firerate respectively.
  • Alongside Jack-o-Bot, hordes of various enemies also spawn, even after it has spawned. Because of this, crowd control towers like the Mortar or Rocketeer can be useful at clearing them out.
    • After they are cleared out, though, crowd control towers become less effective, as Jack-o-Bot lacks a summoning ability.
    • Placing the Accelerator further back ensures it does not lock onto Jack-o-Bot too early and let the other enemies pass.
  • The Medic is quite useful, as it can cleanse your towers from Jack-o-Bot's stun.
  • Because of its immunities, it cannot be frozen by freezing towers or slowed down by the Toxic Gunner.
    • The Warden and Electroshocker can only slow it down instead of stunning it.
      • It is not necessary to attempt to slow Jack-o-Bot as it is already an extremely slow enemy.
  • Placing expendable towers can be fairly useful to distract Jack-o-Bot into using its abilities on them instead of your main DPS towers. These towers can be the cheap towers you used for the early game or support towers with unlimited placement limit, like the Golden Soldier or Commander.

Trivia

  • The Jack-o-Bot has multiple UGC accessories made based on it, some of which were obtainable by triumphing The Haunted Past.
  • The humanoid seen controlling Jack-o-Bot could be a reference to the Baller from Roblox Boss Fighting Stages.
  • This was the slowest enemy in the game at the time of the Lunar Overture Event.
  • Jack-o-Bot was the only boss that could stun cliff towers after they gained a full stun immunity.
    • Some other bosses were once able to stun cliff towers, such as the legacy Grave Digger, but those were unintentional bugs.
