Description

The Health Cultist is a support-type enemy that only appears in Hardcore mode.

The Health Cultist heals enemies within its range. Healed enemies are visually indicated by a glowing green incantation circle underneath them and floating green crystals around them. This will heal enemies by 2.5% of the maximum health every 0.2 seconds. As it heals other enemies, it will cause problems if not dealt with quickly.

When it is not healing, the Health Cultist walks quite quickly, but its legs do not move. When it is healing enemies, it walks quite slowly. It also has quite high health.

Appearance

The Health Cultist appears to be a normal-sized enemy with a dark black granite robe. Some parts of the robe are light green. Green spikes stick out from its neck. It also wears a black granite hood over its faceless head. Its skin is black, reflective and metallic.

Strategy

  • Due to the fact that the Health Cultist can heal itself and other enemies, it must be dealt with as soon as possible.
    • This effectively makes enemies with high health unkillable for the duration of its ability.
  • High DPS towers like the Accelerator or Engineer are recommended, as their DPS may outpace Health Cultist's healing ability.
    • The Ranger can also be quite useful against the Health Cultist, as its high damage allows it to take out enemies quickly, leaving the Health Cultist with no time to heal them.
      • Be aware that if you are using small groups of Rangers, its slow firerate means that in between shots, the Health Cultist can heal any health lost.
        • The Commander can partially circumvent this by decreasing their firerate.
  • Fast firing towers, such as the Minigunner or Turret, are highly recommended to take out the Mega Slows and the Slow Kings that are protecting the Health Cultist.
  • There are periods of time where the Health Cultist does not heal any enemies.
    • During this window of opportunity, you can activate the Commander's Call to Arms ability which can help in defeating the Health Cultist and other enemies.
  • The Health Cultist cannot heal back any shield health lost.
  • Make sure all your towers are set to either First or Strongest when the Health Cultist appears.
    • Having a mix of targeting settings means that the Health Cultist will be able to heal more enemies as damage is more spread out.
  • The Military Base's Tank and Railgun Tank can be quite useful against the Health Cultist as it can deal an instant burst of damage upon collision, killing enemies before they can be healed by the Health Cultist.
  • Support towers, such as the Frost Blaster and Electroshocker can help to slow down the Health Cultist, and keep it away from healing a horde.
  • It is possible to permanently stall the Health Cultist, preferably with a level 5 Brawler, if you leaked it. It will keep healing, and one level 5 Brawler will not do enough DPS to take it down. And due to how Hardcore mode's economy system works, you can do this to make a lot of cash.

Trivia

  • After being defeated, the Health Cultist used to float in the air and explode. Green lightning would strike its body, though this would not grant enemies any additional buff.
  • Unusually, the Health Cultist only appears once in Hardcore mode, despite not being a major boss.
  • The healing ability is similar to the removed zombie, the Witch Doctor, as it heals nearby zombies within its range.
    • However, the Witch Doctor can heal 20% of an enemy's current health at random times. They also cannot heal themselves. The Health Cultist heals enemies much more quickly, can heal itself and heals 2.5% of an enemy's maximum health.
  • The Health Cultist had several variants before it was added to the game.
    • One variant an orange color scheme while the other had a purple color scheme.
  • The incantation circle the Health Cultist creates is a reference to Doctor Strange, a superhero from the Marvel comics.
  • The Health Cultist's hood is a re-textured version of the Hood Hood of the International Order of Buildmasters accessory from the Roblox catalog.
