Description

Hardcore Testing BETA or Release v1.12 was the twenty-fourth update to be released on Tower Defense Simulator, on the 28th of August 2020. Originally, it was not a public BETA test, but a normal update. However, due to the disastrous launch of this update, where the game had multiple issues, such as data loss, huge amounts of bugs and lag, the update was reverted and turned into a public BETA test for the Overhaul Update.

To access Hardcore Testing BETA you had to click on the button on the top of your screen in the lobby. There, you would get the option to join the public BETA test for the update. No progress you made in the Hardcore Testing BETA would be transferred over to the main game when the public testing was active or when it ended. However, your stats from the base game would be transferred over to the Hardcore Testing BETA the first time you joined.

Unlike with most updates before the Solar Eclipse Event, there was an official name for this update, that being the Hardcore Update for the initial update and Hardcore Testing BETA for the public BETA test. Release v1.12 has been retroactively applied to this update to keep in line with the numbering scheme with the other updates.

This version encompassed two updates, the initial Release v1.12.0 update (released 28 August 2020, reverted shortly after) and the Hardcore Testing BETA (released same day as Release v1.12.0, 28 August 2020).

This version was also the first time that updates appeared on seperate devforum posts instead of being all in one devforum post.

Live Event

The update started with a live event. There was a purple door with an eye in the lobby that had a timer on it. After the timer hit 00:00:00, the live event would start. It began with the screen going black, with the following text being displayed:

"..."
"I feel it.. the end.."
"[???]: The end is only the beginning"

After this, the screen would return to normal and the skybox in the lobby would change. Purple orbs would begin to fall from the sky, with your goal being to avoid them for 1 minute and 30 seconds. No matter if you survived or not, an animation would play after 1 minute and 30 seconds, where spinning purple light would come out of the eye in the door, and shortly after other parts of the turn would turn neon purple. The eye would then become a black hole that pulled in multiple parts of the lobby and players. After this the screen would turn black and you would be kicked from the server. You received a badge for participating in this live event.

HARDCORE MODE RULES:

  • Shared cash is removed in Hardcore mode
  • Cash is rewarded on kill, not hit
  • 50 waves, 4 bosses, try not to die
  • 3 player matches or below

Ghost: Phase through moving vehicles
Flying: Only cliff towers can target these enemies
Lead: Only explosion and energy based attacks can damage these enemies

NEW ATTRIBUTES

  • Shield is extra HP that can be added and does not reward cash.
  • Defense removes part of your damage away. These are the basic formulas.
Easy: (Damage - (Defense x 0.25))
