Description

Fungi Forest was a dark, yet colourful map. There were two iterations of this map. It has since been removed from the game and replaced by Fungi Island.

Design & Path

The second version of Fungi Forest was a heavily forested area of mushrooms, which also had purple grass. There were many tall mushrooms and the terrain was very hilly. Some of the mushrooms were glowing neon. There were two small streams that flowed into a large pond. Orange glowing lights could be seen floating around the map.
The second version of Fungi Forest had just one path. The brown pebble path took relatively few corners. It began in mist at one of the many mushrooms around the map and ended at a cave in one of the mushrooms hills. The path was unusually skewed away from the center of the map.

The first version of Fungi Forest was a map with purple ground which was surrounded by high purple cliffs and that enclosed a mushroom forest. Mushrooms are a common type of fungi, hence the name. There were high mushroom canopies as well as low lying mushroom trees, to place cliff towers on. Pink particles radiated from the objects on this map. Lights could be seen dangling from mushrooms. Purple smoke was seen emitting from the ground.
This version of Fungi Forest was two-pathed. This required you to defeat twice the amount of enemies, bar the Gravekeeper, Molten Boss and Gold Titan which do not duplicate. These bosses initially walked on the right path before crossing over to the left.
Both grey paths originally started and ended at two portals, with both paths using the same portal. This map had one entrance point and one exit point, which was unusual for a two-pathed map. Both paths diverged early on, before overlapping each other, going opposite ways. The initial left path turned into a brown pebble path and then went around the giant mushroom on the right, and vice versa for the initial right path. Both paths turned into a wooden path near the center of the map. They both met near the end and entered the same path near the portal. The right then left path was slightly shorter than the other path.

Strategy

  • As both paths cross over near the start, most of you ground towers should be placed here.
  • At the start, enemies are clumped together. Therefore, the Gladiator, Rocketeer and Demoman are very useful in this map.
  • The mushroom canopy may cause some difficulty when using the Freezer's Ice Drop ability.

    • The map was additionally made easier with the removal of one path, the only map to be changed from being two-pathed to one-pathed.
