Description

The Frost Blaster is a tower that could have been unlocked by triumphing Village of Despair during the Christmas 2019 Event. It could have also been through a limited time gamepass for Robux 350 during the Christmas 2019 Event and for Robux 600 as part of the the Krampus' Revenge Event.

The Frost Blaster starts out with low damage, gaining more damage at higher levels and it also has a somewhat high firerate, making its single target DPS below par compared to other towers. However, it fires piercing projectiles that freeze enemies when hit. When an enemy thaws, it has chillness applied to it, which slows it down for a few seconds. Any enemy with the freeze immunity cannot be frozen, slowed down or have its defense dropped by the Frost Blaster. Additionally, larger enemies are frozen for a shorter amount of time. This makes Frost Blaster an offensive support hybrid since it has a higher DPS than the Freezer.

At Level 2+, the Frost Blaster will drop 10% defense every tick, though it can only decrease an enemy's defense by 33%. For example, if an enemy has 50% defense, it will be decreased by 16%.

The Frost Blaster has a placement limit of 10 per player.

Strategy

  • The Frost Blaster's piercing projectile makes it a great tower for early and mid-game.
    • For earlier waves, a Level 0-2 Frost Blaster can be effective at killing enemies that spawn, though by the time high health singular enemies spawn, like the Abnormal Boss, it should be upgraded to Level 3 because of its higher DPS and ability to nearly permanently freeze smaller enemies.
    • Later on in the game the Frost Blaster does not have enough DPS to deal with enemies like the Giant Boss or Hidden Boss on its own, meaning that you need other towers alongside it.
      • It can, however, be useful at freezing enemies and decreasing their defense.
  • Unlike other freezing towers, the Frost Blaster freezes an enemy first and then applies the chill slowness effect on them, making it potentially better at slowing down enemies than the Freezer or Sledger.
    • Larger enemies, like the Giant Boss will get slowed down for a shorter amount of time. Additionally, it cannot freeze or slow down any enemy that has the freeze immunity.
    • It cannot freeze bosses as they are immune to freeze by default, however, it can still apply the chillness slowdown effect to them, as long as it does not have freeze immunity. However, the slowdown effect will be much weaker.
    • The Level 3 is especially good at slowing down, as its freeze time and firerate are nearly identical, allowing to effectively permanently slow down smaller enemies.
  • The Frost Blaster's defense dropping ability can be useful for decreasing an enemy's defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage to it.
    • However, do note that as the defense dropping happens when an enemy is frozen or slowed down. Because of this, freeze immune enemies cannot have their defense dropped.
    • The defense drop can stack with other towers, such as the Pyromancer, Electroshocker or Toxic Gunner, allowing you to remove an enemy's defense entirely.
      • However, the Frost Blaster's defense drop does not stack with Cryomancer's and Freezer's defense drop.
  • The Frost Blaster's range is quite high at Level 4, making it harder for enemies to get out of its range.
    • This also means it is able to freeze enemies from far ranges, surpassing many other stalling towers in this regard and making it very useful.
    • You can use the DJ Booth to increase the high range even more.
  • Because of the Frost Blaster's freezing and cheap hidden detection, it can be used against early hidden enemies like the Shadow or Hidden.
    • However, it may be best to upgrade a single one to Level 2-3 or place multiple Level 1 Frost Blasters as a single Level 1 Frost Blaster is unlikely to deal with them on their own, especially against Fallen Souls.
    • Later on, Level 4 Frost Blasters are effective at freezing high health hidden enemies like the Hidden Boss, Soul and Soul Boss.
  • The Frost Blaster is effective against Leads and Lead Bosses as it has lead detection from Level 0 and can freeze them.
    • It is, however, useless against the Lead Balloons because the Frost Blaster cannot detect flying enemies.
    • The Frost Blaster should be upgraded to Level 2-3 or have multiple lower levels placed down because of their high health.
