Description

Frankenstein was the first boss that appeared in the second act of the Lunar Overture Event, though only the first Frankenstein that spawns was considered a boss. It was a high-health, slow enemy that was immune to being completely stopped by the Warden and Electroshocker, being only slowed down instead. Because it was a boss enemy, it was also immune to being frozen by freezing towers and being slowed down by the Toxic Gunner, with an additional 35% defense. Additionally, on some waves, Frankenstein spawned as a hidden enemy.

Frankenstein had one ability, where upon death it would come back to life by being struck by a lightning bolt. After it was reanimated, its health changed to 2,100, its name changed from Frankenstein to Revived Frank and it had blue and yellow electricity appear on it.

Appearance

The Frankenstein was a large humanoid with a waist, lower arms and lower legs in its rig. It had a lime green skin tone with dirt all over it, had a dark green torso, waist and pants. It wore a greenish-black coat with long sleeves and three grey buttons. It had one bolt on each shoulder, a thin metal beam going down each arm, two bolts sticking out of the sides of its head, short dark green hair and stitches with a red line under its hairline.

On its first and second deaths, it would fall onto its back. After its first death, for its Reanimation ability, it would be struck by yellow lightning, causing it to rise back up and gain blue and yellow electricity particles across its body.

Strategy

  • High DPS towers like the Accelerator, Minigunner, Ranger or Pursuit are recommended against the Frankenstein.
    • Do note that, on later waves, some Frankensteins spawn as Hidden enemies, so you will be required to bring a decent DPS tower to deal with them.
    • The Commander and DJ Booth can be useful at boosting their firerate and range respectively.
  • Defense dropping towers like the Pyromancer can be quite useful at decreasing its defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage to it.
  • When it first spawns on Wave 11, it is a boss enemy, therefore it cannot be frozen by freezing towers, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner or completely stopped by the Warden and Electroshocker.
    • This also means that it is unaffected by the Witch's ability.
    • After wave 11, Frankenstein is no longer a boss, reducing its immunities to only being immune to the Warden's and Electroshocker's stun, only being slowed down by them.
      • As such, towers like the Sledger are strong options for dealing with Frankenstein past wave 11.
  • Be careful if Frankenstein gets very close to the end path, as you may not have enough time or damage to kill the Revived Frank. Thus, it is highly important to kill them as soon as possible.

Trivia

  • Contrary to common belief, Frankenstein is the erroneous term to call the monster. As stated in the original 1818 novel Frankenstein, the monster is actually called Frankenstein's Monster or the Creature, while Dr. Frankenstein is the creator of the monster.
    • This enemy may be purposely called Frankenstein as a reference to the common misconception.
  • In the original novel, the monster is revived using electricity. The lightning bolt that turned the Frankenstein into the Revived Frank may be a reference to this.
  • As the Frankenstein died twice, when it received a pumpkin hat on its head, it would drop PumpkinPumpkins two times instead of the usual one.
  • The Frankenstein and Abomination are the only enemies that can revive themselves after being killed, though the Abomination is the only one that is still in the game.
