Description
The Fallen Guardian is a large guardian enemy that appears in Hardcore mode and in the Sandbox exclusive Legacy Fallen mode. Although it could not spawn naturally in The Classic Event, the Fallen King could summon the Fallen Guardian during Rage Mode. The Fallen Guardian always spawns just before the Fallen King and Void Reaver (it also used to appear before the Nuclear Fallen King spawns). It also appears when the Fallen King (and formerly the Nuclear Fallen King) summons them during Rage Mode. It also appeared in the legacy Hidden Wave before its removal.
The Fallen Guardian is an extremely difficult enemy to defeat due to its high health (far higher than the Summoner Boss and Slow King) and below average walkspeed. Additionally, it has a defense of 80%, meaning that the damage capabilities of most towers are reduced drastically. On top of that, the Fallen Guardian has the ability to thrust its spear at towers, stunning them for a period of time.
The Fallen Guardian is replaced by the Nuclear Guardian in Polluted Wasteland II, the Cavalry in Badlands II and the Minigunner in Pizza Party.
Appearance
The current Fallen Guardian is similar to its original version, except it dominus is now dark turquoise. It is now also right-handed and has a twisted left leg. Its neon parts are now light purple.
The original Fallen Guardian had black reflective skin. It wore dark turquoise granite armor, which comprised of armbands, knee-pads, sleeves and chestplate. It had black granite gloves, its torso was dark turquoise granite, and it wielded a spear with purple halos near the head. It also wore a black marble dominus. On its dominus, there were parts which were neon purple. Purple smoke was emitted from their torso.
Strategy
- Deal with the Fallen Guardian before moving on to the major boss that it spawns in front of. With high health, faster speed, the ability to stun towers and extremely high defense, the Fallen Guardian protects the major boss and can overwhelm poorly prepared defenses.
- As the Fallen Guardian has quite high defense, defense dropping towers like the Freezer, Pyromancer or Jester can be quite useful at dropping it. Some towers, like the Freezer, Frost Blaster or Toxic Gunner can also be useful at slowing it down.
- However, freezing towers and Warden can only freeze or stun the Fallen Guardian for a shorter period of time due to its size.
- Because of its stun immunity, stunning towers like the Electroshocker can only slow it down instead of stopping it completely while knockback towers cannot knock it back.
- Having a concentrated group of Sledgers may be able to impede Fallen Guardians.
- However, freezing towers and Warden can only freeze or stun the Fallen Guardian for a shorter period of time due to its size.
- The Accelerator, Ranger, Engineer, Golden Minigunner and Pursuit are excellent towers against the Fallen Guardian due to their high DPS.
- The Commander can decrease the firerate of these towers, especially with its Call to Arms ability.
- The Ranger and Pursuit can be very useful, as they cannot be stunned.
- Be aware that if the Accelerator is stunned by the Fallen Guardian, it will have to charge up again.
- While the Engineer can be stunned, its sentries cannot be damaged by the Fallen Guardian, making it great against this enemy.
- If you can, try not to clump towers close together, as they will all be stunned by the Fallen Guardian with one thrust of its spear.
- It is best to place towers a distance away from the path so that they cannot get stunned.
- Splash damage towers, like the Mortar and Rocketeer, can be useful against the Fallen Guardian, as they spawn in groups and splash damage ignores defense, dealing full damage to the Fallen Guardian.
- You should not rely on these towers to kill Fallen Guardians, as they do not have enough DPS to deal with Fallen Guardians alone.
- You can use the Medic's ability to cleanse towers from the Fallen Guardian's stun.
