- "We got a match. This.. sound was logged from the Overture incident. It's believed to be a powerful entity infected by the fragments.
This entity.. was likely taken by EXO sometime after we defeated the Umbra. But what is it doing here?" - ―Dispatcher dialogue on Wave 16 (Containment)
Description
The Enigma was an enemy that only appeared in Containment as part of the Hexscape Event. It had decent health and speed. It turned into a random enemy upon death, which could spawn with a random attribute.
Appearance
The Enigma was a black body with a glowing pink question mark on its torso and a single pink glowing eye. It emitted black and purple mist when killed.
Enemies Summoned
The Enigma could summon three enemies, that being the Hex Corpse with a 25% chance, Hex Revenant with a 25% chance and Hex Wraith with a 50% chance. However, each one could spawn with a random attribute, with these being:
- None (18.18% chance)
- Nimble (27.27% chance)
- Bloated (9.09% chance)
- Health Regen (18.18% chance)
- Aggro (9.09% chance)
- Hidden (18.18% chance)
Strategy
- Towers with decent DPS, such as the Ranger, Engineer, Accelerator or Golden Minigunner can be quite effective against it.
- As it spawns in hordes, crowd control towers like the Pyromancer or Electroshocker can be used to deal a lot of damage or kill the Enigma.
- The Enigma is a summoner enemy, which can summon enemies with various attributes.
- It can summon Hidden enemies, meaning that hidden detection or towers that can damage them indirectly are needed to deal with this.
- It can summon Aggro enemies, making all your towers target them instead of the enemy they were targeting before.
- Towers that can damage multiple enemies at once, such as the Pyromancer or Electroshocker can be useful in such cases.
- Units will target the Aggro enemy if they have a ranged attack, however, they can still be used to collide with enemies that are in front of it.
