Sandbox Only Content

Crying Angel (Frost Invasion) was previously removed from the game on the the 4th of December 2021 as it was part of the Frost Invasion Event, though it has been made available through the Sandbox mode.
It is not accessible anywhere else in the game, aside from in Sandbox Mode. This page will attempt to include information about both the version before removal and its re-added version.

Description

The Crying Angel was an enemy that appeared exclusively in Outpost 32 as part of the Frost Invasion Event. Currently, it can only appear in Sandbox mode. For its debut, it had a low amount of health, but it had a somewhat fast speed. The Crying Angel was also a Flying enemy, meaning that ground towers and units could not detect it, though some units could collide with it.

Upon its death, the Frost Mystery had a chance to spawn the Crying Angel, from wave 19 onwards.

Appearance

The Crying Angel is entirely made out of dark grey granite, from head to legs. It has two dull blue wings with chains across its wings. The Crying Angel also has a neon blue outline around its body, plus it has a neon blue halo above its head. As a Flying enemy, it hovered a distance above the ground. Its head was slightly tilted downwards.

Event Strategy

Strategy listed here was made for the Frost Invasion Event.

  • Only cliff and air-based towers can target the Crying Angel.
    • However, explosions can indirectly hit the Crying Angel.
      • With the exception of the Mortar, Ace Pilot and Pursuit, explosive towers cannot detect the Crying Angel. If another enemy that can be detected by such a tower is present, then the Crying Angel can be damaged, so long it is within the explosion radius.
        • Be aware that the projectile explodes on the ground. At low levels, the Mortar may only deal small amounts of damage to the Crying Angel.
    • A Level 5 Pyromancer can set the Crying Angel on fire, so long another detectable enemy is nearby.
      • Any Pyromancer at a lower level will not be able to set the Crying Angel on fire as its flames will be too small to hit them.
      • As with all enemies in the Frost Invasion Event, the Pyromancer deals double fire damage to the Crying Angel (though normal damage is not doubled).
  • Ace Pilots and Pursuits deal great amounts of damage to this enemy.
    • A couple of Ace Pilots fare well against the Crying Angel.
  • Snipers and Rangers can be an option against the Crying Angel, though do be aware of limited cliff space near the start of the map.
  • Some ground towers like the Electroshocker and Gladiator can hit the Crying Angel.
    • The Crying Angel can get hit if it is in chain reaction with the Electroshocker.
    • The Sledger and Gladiator will be able to hit the Crying Angel is another detectable enemy is nearby as their hitboxes can hit the Crying Angel.
    • The Archer and Slasher (through its passive Knife Throw ability) can hit the Crying Angel, so long the Frost Spirit is nearby, since these towers will aim upwards, which can hit the Crying Angel
  • Units (from the Crook Boss and Military Base) cannot detect the Crying Angel as it is a flying enemy.
    • However, units from the Crook Boss can collide and deal damage to the Crying Angel through its collision.
    • The Military Base's units cannot collide with the Crying Angel at all.
